Our rehab for mature men provides individualized quality care in a small setting with high staff ratios. Our location: A secluded mountain area in Prescott National Forest. We are Accredited by The Joint Commission.
How is Arrowhead Lodge Recovery different? Many drug and alcohol rehabs make bold claims, but when an adult man over the age of 30 arrives at the average facility, they often find themselves with young adults who simply don’t share their same level of commitment to recovery; or life experience.
The age of our average client is 45-65 – and includes include physicians, attorneys, pilots, business owners, executives, managers and blue-collar workers. Re-discover the joy in living sober – get your life back!
Take away the drugs and alcohol, and addicts and alcoholics typically resort to sex in an attempt to self-medicate. Those struggling with addiction will often unconsciously search for any reason to avoid facing the real issue: their addiction.
In a co-ed drug and alcohol setting, most men try to impress the female clients and vice versa. Flirtatious communication between men and women not only distract them from the real issues of addiction recovery, it can lead to program failure.
Since Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is gender specific, distractions or temptations by the opposite sex are eliminated. This creates a safe environment in which our clients are able to lower their defenses so they can open up emotionally and start the healing process.
Men need a safe place where they can explore painful personal issues and sometimes, fall apart. Being gender specific helps create that space.
Arrowhead Lodge Recovery Difference: Rehab for Older Men
The age of our average client is 45-65. A mature man may not open up in group therapy when he’s sitting in a group of single young adults who have not experienced life on their own. Especially when early childhood trauma is involved.
A man needs to feel safe before he will talk about deeply embedded emotions and the trauma that created them.
Individual and Group Therapy with Licensed Therapists
The State of Arizona has no education nor licensing requirements for a behavioral health technician; therefore, anyone can be a BHT and do therapy.
Most alcohol and drug rehab centers have BHT’s facilitate group therapy sessions. Some even have BHT’s doing individual therapy. This lowers their cost at the expense of the quality of care for clients. At Arrowhead Lodge Recovery, only licensed therapists do individual and group therapy.
Due to our small size, Arrowhead Lodge Recovery clients receive a lot of personal attention.
Our program is geared specifically toward men over the age of 30. We have a highly credentialed professional staff that includes:
Doctor of divinity
Master’s level and licensed therapists
A registered nurse
Peer support specialists
Addiction oriented nutritionist

Co-Occurring Disorders and Multiple Addictions Treatment
Many of our clients have a co-occurring mental disorder that makes their addiction worse. At Arrowhead Lodge Recovery, we help men with mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma, anxiety and more through psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and naturopathic supplements.
Some of our clients have multiple addictions in addition to their chemical dependence. Their treatment plan includes therapy that addresses all of their addictions, which often include one, or more, of the following:
Arrowhead Lodge Recovery: Privacy and Seclusion Equal a Safe Therapeutic Environment
Privacy and seclusion equals a safe therapeutic environment. By maintaining a high staff-to-client ratio, Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is able to focus intensive therapy and attention to each man, and to deliver truly individualized care.
When men live among others of similar life experience and when they encounter kindred spirits as committed to recovery as they are themselves, they can feel more comfortable, share more openly, and address their deepest issues.
Most men have buried their emotions so deeply that they become out of touch with their true nature, as well as those who are closest to them. They stay “busy” doing things; working, achieving, reading email, surfing the web, watching TV, Netflix and much, much more. What these men need in order to heal from their addiction is a place where there are no distractions like internet, email, cell phones and “busyness” in general.
Our private mountain retreat provides quiet, seclusion and spaciousness; allowing our clients to unplug so they can “hear” their quiet, inner voice and discover their authentic Self. That is when the healing starts.
Our Location: Prescott National Forest
Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is tucked away in the Rocky Mountain pines of Northern Arizona; in Prescott National Forest. It is a man’s retreat from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.
Our clients feel safe here and are able to open up and work on tough emotional issues around addiction and trauma.
There is something to be said about recovering in a natural setting where the deer graze, coyotes howl, and hawks and eagles soar that helps men reconnect with nature and their authenticity.
It’s difficult to describe just how peaceful Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is – you need to be here to experience it firsthand.
Arrowhead Lodge Recovery Goal
We not only desire to help our residents return sober to their families and careers. We help our patients discover how to thrive in life without the use of mood-altering drugs or alcohol; and to find fulfillment, peace and lasting joy.
