Our Difference For Men’s Rehab
A rehab and recovery center for adult men who need to simply get away from it all for a while in order to recover and heal.
Many drug and alcohol rehabs make bold claims, but when an adult man, over the age of 30 arrives at the facility, they often find themselves with young adults who simply don’t share their same level of commitment to recovery. How is Arrowhead Lodge different?
Men Over the Age of 30
A mature man may not open up in group therapy when he’s sitting in a group of single young adults who have not experienced life on their own. Especially when early childhood trauma is involved. A man needs to feel safe before he will talk about deeply embedded emotions and the trauma that created them
Men Only Rehab
Take away the drugs and alcohol, and addicts and alcoholics typically resort to sex in an attempt to self-medicate. In a co-ed drug and alcohol setting, most men try to impress the female clients and vice versa. Flirtatious communication between men and women not only distract them from the real issues, it can lead to other things.
Since Arrowhead Lodge is gender specific, distractions or temptations by the opposite sex are eliminated. This creates a safe environment wherein our men are able to lower their defenses so they can open up emotionally and start the healing process. Men need a safe place where they can fall apart. Being gender specific helps create that space.
Most alcohol and drug rehab centers have behavioral health technicians (BHT’s) facilitate group therapy sessions. Some even have them doing individual therapy. This lowers their cost at the expense of the quality of care for clients.
The State of Arizona has no education nor licensing requirements for a behavioral health technician, therefore, anyone can be a BHT and do therapy.
At Arrowhead Lodge, a master’s level, licensed therapist does individual and group therapy. At our men’s rehab BHT’s do book studies and some psychoeducation, but not therapy.
Privacy and seclusion equals a safe therapeutic environment
Privacy and seclusion equals a safe therapeutic environment
Most men have buried their emotions so deeply that they become out of touch with their true nature, as well as those who are closest to them. They stay “busy” doing things; working, achieving, reading email, surfing the web, watching TV, Netflix and much, much more. What these men need in order to heal from their addiction is a place where there are no distractions like Internet, email, cell phones and “busyness” in general.
A private mountain retreat offering quiet, seclusion and spaciousness allows our clients to unplug so they can “hear” their quiet, inner voice and discover their authentic Self. That is when the healing starts.
Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is tucked away in the Rocky Mountain pines of Northern Arizona. It is a man’s retreat from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Our clients feel safe here and are therefore able to open up and work on tough emotional issues around addiction and trauma.
There is something to be said about recovering in a natural setting where the deer graze, coyotes howl, and hawks and eagles soar that helps men reconnect with nature and their authenticity. It’s difficult to describe just how exquisite Arrowhead Lodge Recovery is – one needs to be here to experience it firsthand.
